Math Giveaway and Half Price Games

Hi, Teaching Friends!

It's snowing here. Again. Here's my totally unscientific take on this wretched winter. When the meteorologists start naming winter storms, why on earth did they give them names like Maximus and Titan? Good grief, people, you're empowering them! If you gave them wimpier names they might just give up and leave, since I think we'd all agree that they've overstayed their welcome this year. You know, names like ... or ...  .  I'm not so crazy as to fill in those blanks and offend somebody, but you all know that there are a whole bunch of names with far less bully-power than Maximus!

Like I said, unscientific. But anything's worth a shot at this point, right? :)

Two news items for you from my Teachers Notebook Shop:

I'm giving away 3 copies of "Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down? Second Grade Math Games".  This is a set of ten Common Core games.

To play, each partner gets one of these boards.

Then the players take turns evaluating expressions like these to determine whether they're true (thumbs up!) or false (sorry, Charlie!).

The first partner to fill his or her ten frame wins.

Click here to enter the giveaway. Ends Friday!

Also at TN, I've just posted a set of Spring Strategy Partner Games for 1.OA.6. There are games for adding doubles, adding doubles plus one, adding doubles subtracting one, and doubles plus two. This set will be $3, but through 3/7, it's just $1.50. Click on the image to see the details.

Happy Teaching!
