Free Classroom Signs Version 3.5... and More

Hi, Everyone!

At the request of Catherine in her comment on Week 3 Freebies in the No Theme Theme, here's an addiition to the sign set I posted the other day, Version 3.5, if you will. I'm so techie. Not. Click the picture to download... thanks for the good idea, Catherine!

Yesterday was my errand-running day. Hey, it was only 99 degrees, and it looks like the weekend might be even hotter! So I went to Target, Home Depot (plus a quick swing through TJMaxx, can you blame me?) and then stopped at the library on my way home.

Look what I found at Target - wooden boxes - $2.50 at the Dollar Spot! Now they look chartreuse and blue in this picture (actually, they look like they'd match pretty well in my house - what is it with me and blue and  green anyway??) , but actually they're lime and aqua. So, if you're doing the No Theme Theme, well there you go! I'm thinking boxes for desk organization, "to be copied", "put your finished work here", "take a center to your desk" ... you get the idea.

Then, at the library, I was poking through some of their new non-fiction, and just wanted to share a few goodies with you.

First up is a color book, but so much more. Many of us start the school year teaching or reviewing color words. Ruby, Violet, Lime  by Jane Brocket is a great way to expand upon that teaching. Illustrated with beautiful photographs, this would also be a great springboard for writing.

Jim Arnosky's Dolphin's on the Sand  is based on the author's own experience watching the rescue of a pod of beached dolphins. Beautifully told and illustrated!

Last on the list today is Just One Bite , by Lola M. Schaefer. Each page shows the size of a bite taken by one of 11 different animals. It's a good companion read for Steve Jenkins' Actual Size , and will have your students ooohing and aaahing just like they do for that book.

Click on the pictures to go to Amazon and see more about these books.
This is my chattiest post in a long time! Hope you found something that will be useful for you!

Happy Teaching!
