Alphabetizing is a good basic activity for our little learners - and a skill they'll be putting to use on non-fiction texts, with indexes and glossaries. This set of thirty picture/word cards for alphabetizing has color-coding for differentiation, plus a student response sheet, too.
Here's a hint for extra fun: String a clothesline below the frame of a bulletin board. Give your students a bucket of clothespins {I'll guarantee you some won't know what they are! ;) } and have your students clip the word cards on the clothesline in alphabetical order. Get some small motor practice and build hand strength along the way! You can make this self-checking by printing a photo of the completed line.
These cards would also make a nice addition to your spring writing centers! Enjoy using them!
Happy Teaching!
