Have you ever bought a new bedspread, put it on the bed, and suddenly realized that it was time to replace those old drapes? Then you start thinking that a fresh coat of paint in the room would really make the blue in the besdspread "pop". Hmm... now the carpeting is looking kind of drab... {Wow, this really reminds me of some books by Laura Numeroff! Cookies and mice? Pancakes and pigs?}
Well, that's what happened when I started to revise my Oceans of Fun literacy and math resource, and that also why I'm linking up with Mel at From the Pond for her Re-work It Wednesday linky party. (Yes, I know that today is Friday, but we all know that this redecorating process takes time! )
When I took a look back at the 19 games and activities that were in this set, I realized that it was very heavily weighted toward literacy, so I designed a few more math resources...
* A 120 chart game for adding and subtracting multiples of ten
* Diving Down BUMP!, where players add two dice, subtract one from the total, and cover
the space with that number, bumping off the other player's marker as necessary
* Five story problems and a cover for a draw-and-solve math journal
Here's the updated collage of math items that are now included.
With the math done, I took another look at the literacy components and decided that you could really use more than ten pocketchart picture/word cards, so now you have 15!
Here's what the literacy resources look like now.
Lastly (almost!), I thought the writing lines and spaces were a bit small for your kiddos, so they've been expanded wherever possible, and also extra cells added to the graphs.
To put the icing on the new little cupcake, everything in this whole resource is now (tah-dahhhh!)
aligned to the Common Core! Yay!
Please remember that if you've already purchased this resource at TPT, you can download the revised version at no charge!
Here's the new cover.
If you haven't seen it yet, I hope you'll take a look at this newly-polished-up set of 25 Common Core resources!
Thanks, Mel, for this great idea! I hope you'll all head over to From the Pond to see how everyone else's "redecorating" is coming along!
