Free Valentines Day (or Any Day!) Game with Lots of Possibilities!

Hi, Teaching Friends!

Don't you just love it when you can introduce a nice basic game format - you know, like Scoot, or Bump, or Four-in-a-Row -  and not have to spend time reteaching the directions again every time you play it in a new form?  Here's a game that will help you do just that!

It's called Capture My Heart, so now's the perfect time to teach it... and then use it all year!

Capture My Heart is a classic game format known as a dot game. Players each use a different color writing tool.  They compete to answer the questions/ topics that you supply, with each correct response allowing them to draw a line connecting two dots. When a player's lines enclose a diamond, they claim the space. The player with the most spaces claimed at the end of the game is the winner!

Think of the possibilities! You could stick with word wall words, but spelling words or vocabulary would work, too. Other options...

How about math? Put a list of 20 subtraction number models up on your whiteboard, and give a gameboard to each pair of partners. When they follow the directions on the board and complete a diamond, they can choose a number model to solve and write the answer in the diamond.

For Social Studies, list 20 state capitals on the whiteboard. Your students will write the abbreviation for the state in their diamond.

Science? If you're learning about animals, have your students write the name of a mammal in each section.

By the way, the set also includes a grayscale option, for your printing convenience.

Oh, I can hear your teacher brains clicking away out there! I would love it if you'd leave your ideas for using this game in a comment below!

Get your free copy of Capture My Heart at my TPT store, where I would so love if you'd rate this item and leave feedback - thanks!

Happy Teaching!
